Army Maj killed, 6 soldiers wounded in Mendhar encounter

Jammu, Jul 14 (KMW): A Major of Indian Army was killed while a Colonel and six other ranks sustained wounds during an ongoing gun-battle between security forces and heavily armed militants at Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said here today.
 
Two militants were also killed in the encounter but their bodies were yet to be recovered from the dense forested area of Beri Rakh in northwestern Mendhar sector, about 230 kms from here, where a fierce battle is underway.
