Srinagar, June 27 (KMW): A youth was killed after CRPF personnel fired rubber bullets on a stone-pelting mob that had defied curfew in Sopore town of north Kashmir this evening, two days after a similar incident left two civilians dead sparking protests in the Valley. The victim, identified as Bilal Wani of Kralteng, Sopore, was hit on the neck by a rubber bullet fired by the CRPF personnel to disperse protesters who were indulging in stone-pelting in the town, 55 kms from here, police said. Wani was rushed to Srinagar hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said. On June 25, two youths were killed and three others injured allegedly in firing by CRPF after the security personnel were attacked by protesters following an encounter in which two militants were gunned down. The incident sparked protests across the Valley with both factions of Hurriyat calling for a shutdown.
