Srinagar, Aug 21: Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani was administered oxygen at his residence on Saturday while as refused the advice by doctors to leave for New Delhi.
The veteran leader’s health deteriorated yesterday after he complained of breathlessness and acute pain in chest.
“Chest specialist Dr Mohammad Yousuf visited Geelani Sahib yesterday and advised him to go New Delhi,” a spokesman of the amalgam told.
However, the spokesman said, ailing octogenarian refused the advice in wake of the prevailing situation in the Kashmir Valley.
“This morning, Dr Tauheed visited his residence and administered oxygen to him,” he added.
Meanwhile, curbs on his movement were lifted last evening.
As a precautionary measure, the veteran leader was placed under house arrest to bar him from addressing any congregation on Friday.
