Srinagar, 17 Aug 2010 (KMW) : In a goodwill gesture, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today pardoned Head Constable Abdul Ahad Jan and asked the police to withdraw this case against him, an official spokesman said.
He said that Jan was released on extremely compassionate grounds. “Omar called Jan to his residence and gave him a patient hearing after which he directed the police to release him immediately,” the spokesman said.
"The Holy month of Ramadan teaches us to be compassionate and to forgive everyone. My steps are in conformity with the teachings of Islam which does not teach hatred but only love and brotherhood," the spokesman quoted Omar as having said.
Pertinently, Jan had hurled a shoe towards Omar on I-day function at Bakshi Stadium here on Sunday.
